EU Internet has announced a new pricing scheme of €12.50 for .eu domain names today, March 8th 2006. The measure is designed to encourage more businesses to take advantage of the opportunity to protect their european brand.

Commenting on the announcement, Managing Director of EU Internet, Phelim O'Connell said: “Since the release of the .eu domain name over 300,000 applications have been made. The rising demand for .eu domains across Europe has allowed EU Internet to significantly lower the price of registration to just €12.50. By reducing costs we want to ensure that .eu domain name registration represents a valuable return for businesses looking to protect their brand identity.”

Business organisation ISME has welcomed the price reduction which is expected to further stimulate the growth of .eu domain name registrations. ISME chief executive Mark Fielding said that “the lower cost of registration means that the .eu domain name is now an even more attractive proposition for businesses who wish to protect valuable trade names.”

EU Internet’s offering includes a guarantee that if you do not succeed in registering your .eu domain name during open registration you will be entitled to register an alternative available .eu domain name of your choice without charge. EU Internet is now accepting applications for .eu domain names on behalf of businesses and citizens in the European Union. Applications will be validated from April 7th 2006 on a first come, first served basis.
